800,000 new jobs pledged by South Africa

More than 1 trillion rand has also been pledged in infrastructure investment.

South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced plans to create more than 800,000 jobs in the immediate term, as part of the country's economic reconstruction and recovery plan following job losses caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Fulani Kwajafa was the Police Commissioner who led the creation of the just disbanded SARS unit in 1984. It’s aim was to combat armed robbery. He told the BBC that he was supporting its dissolution.
