East Africa bad weather hampers mudslides rescue efforts
Mudslides have left devastation throughout East and Central Africa
Over forty people died in rains that hit Kinshasa in the DRC, during what have been named 'the worst floods in twenty years'. In Somalia, more than 200 000 people have been displaced. Local authorities in Kenya say the death toll from the landslides caused by the rains in West Pokot may hit a hundred, and hundreds more have been displaced. Rescue efforts have been hampered by continuing rain which has washed away roads and bridges.
In Zimbabwe, senior doctors and specialists have joined an ongoing strike with their junior colleagues.
