Al-Shabab militants attack US training base

Jihadists have attacked a military base in southern Somalia that is used by American forces to train Somali soldiers.

The al-Shabab militant group said it had carried out the attack on a US training base in Somalia, using a car bomb to blast through the gates before sending its fighters inside.

Plus Senegal's president has pardoned the former mayor of the capital city Dakar, who was jailed for five years in 2018 on corruption charges.
