Ethiopia 'coup ring leader killed'

The suspected ringleader of Saturday's failed coup attempt in Ethiopia's Amhara region, Brig-Gen Asaminew Tsige has been shot dead as he attempted to escape from his hideout according to police.

Botswana's opposition leader Duma Boko of the Umbrella for Democratic Change party is hoping to change the dynamics of Botswana's leadership since Independence 53-years ago, by capitalising on the fall out between former president Ian Khama and his former deputy, Mogweetsi Masisi.

Zimbabwe has banned the use of international currencies such as the US dollar, South African rand and British pound.

The country has not had its own fully fledged currency since 2009 when authorities abolished the Zimbabwe dollar due to hyperinflation.
