Reliving London's 'wildest year' 1996 at the Barbican
A new exhibition takes in the music, fashion, sport and politics of 1996.
There an exhibition on at the Barbican Music Library called “1996: 30 Years On” – the wildest year of Britain’s wildest decade".
The exhibition explores a landmark year in UK culture through music, fashion, sport and politics; the free show features items from acts like Oasis and Spice Girls, alongside figures such as Jarvis Cocker and Paul Oakenfold, capturing the height of ‘Cool Britannia’ when Britpop, club culture and major cultural moments – from Trainspotting to UEFA Euro 1996 – defined the era.
