Petrol and diesel prices have risen sharply since the start of the Iran war.

Ministers have played down the possibility of fuel shortages.

There was a 5p cut in fuel duty introduced when Russia invaded Ukraine. This is due to start being phased out from September, although the PM has said “we will keep the situation under review in the light of what is happening in Iran”.
