'Podcasting doesn't have to be a death sentence'

It's A Death Sentence is made by the Birmingham podcasters reaching international audiences, navigating their way around life's trickiest subject.

Carrie Smith, from Castle Vale, alongside co-host Emma Skipp, put death at the forefront of their conversation.

The series is more than just a home for anyone who has lost someone: The hosts take a deep dive in to those unspoken rules, strange rituals, the messy, the taboo and the occasionally gruesome sides of being alive (or not!).

Speaking to BBC Upload's Yaz Rhoden, Carrie and Emma share how they combine British sarcasm with uncomfortable honesty and the dark humour that makes you laugh just when you think you shouldn't - in to a combination that's seen them clock up a half-century of episodes - finding listeners in places they never knew they'd find.
