  • GABRIEL: On Sunday morning Folkestone woke to find the streets littered with human beings.

  • SYLVIA: I myself would prefer the Metropole. They have a new Palm Tea Court and an orchestra.
  • ‘The fund raising ball at The Metropole on Saturday. You are attending aren’t you?’
  • ‘It seems so strange to me how it’s all still there – still going on.’
  • Once known as 'Slope Road' the steep path connecting the Leas to Lower Sandgate Road and the harbour was renamed.
  • 'We are gathered here today to remember those who have given their lives for us'
  • The cemetery contains 471 First World War burials. Over 300 of these were for Canadian soldiers.
