Afghanistan - Back to the Future

Over the past few years, Helmand province in Afghanistan has seen some of the fiercest fighting between Nato forces and the Taliban. Fifty years ago, though, things were very different. A remarkable treasure trove of films has come to light, shot by an American Glenn Foster, and his Afghan assistant Hajji Mehtabuddin. They catch Afghanistan at a remarkable period of change - and are full of surprises...This is the first time they have been screened in full. Who better to explore them than our reporter Saeeda Mahmoud, who was born and brought up in southern Afghanistan.
