A spiritual comment and prayer to start the day with Haydon Spenceley
Good morning.
Rest is hard to keep to at times. If you’re listening to this as it is broadcast live then I imagine you would agree with me as you are plainly not sleeping in this morning. Perhaps you’re coming to the end of a night shift, or you’ve spent the night sitting at the bedside of a loved one. Perhaps you get up early to farm or to deliver food to people like me all around the country. Whatever has meant that you’re sharing in this moment, there is something beautiful in exactly that, sharing in this moment. We only know our own experience and perspective truly, but we do not live alone. We live with and amongst people in the blessing and the beauty of the reality of life. But even then, that isn’t all there is. We also have God.
Sometimes we pay God attention. Sometimes we don’t. Sometimes we deliberately ignore God. Sometimes we tell God to get lost. Or worse. The thing is, God is there come what may, ready for us to look his way and ask for help, direction, or just to know that we have someone with us as we go through the good and the bad of the day. That gives me so much confidence and peace, in a way nothing else I’ve ever known in the world, even some of the really good thing’s life has to offer, has never quite managed. I hope you find some of that confidence and true peace today.
Father, thank you for being with us. Help me to feel, hear, see and sense you with me today and help me to live your way.
Amen
