Former Labour leader, Lord Kinnock has urged Andy Burnham to introduce compulsory voting to solve the issue of low turnout at elections. Having lived there for ten years, Neil Kinnock pointed to the Belgian system and said that “democracy and citizenship in the UK would benefit greatly from a comparable system of legal obligation”. He will back a proposed amendment in the House of Lords this week to try and introduce the amendment, which is expected to stipulate a £10 fine for failing to cast a ballot. Should voting be made compulsory?

Many buildings around the UK will turn pink this week to mark Organ Donation Week. According to the NHS, the waiting list for organs has never been higher, with over 8000 people currently in need of a transplant. But there has been a serious decline in the number of donors - down 9 per cent in a year. In 2015, Wales became the first UK nation to adopt legislation, which presumes a person's consent to donate their organs when they die, unless they or their family have indicated otherwise. But Wales currently has the lowest organ donation consent rate in the UK. So, would you be happy for your organs to be transplanted to others in need? Wales have returned to winning ways after an eight-try victory over South Africa at the Cardiff Arms Park on Friday night.
