Elizabeth Alker introduces a week of highlights from the BBC Proms, featuring some of the festival's standout performances. Isabelle Faust plays Schumann's violin concerto with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra conducted by Simon Rattle.

Back at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, Benjamin Appl sings Beethoven's song cycle 'An die ferne Geliebte' (To A Distant Beloved) in an arrangement for voice and string quartet with the Armida Quartet.
