Let the Joy Back In
Stacey and the team head to Yorkshire to help the Mann-Monro family, a blended household of six that has been overwhelmed by years of clutter and emotional memories.
Stacey and the gang travel to Yorkshire to meet the Mann-Monro family, a blended household of six navigating life under one very crowded roof. Mum of three Mary met stepdad Stuart ten years ago, but after almost a decade of living together, and with a fourth child, their home is bursting at the seams. Eldest daughter Milly is back and forth to uni, twins Henry and Gregor have busy lives, with Henry taking GCSEs, Gregor, who requires full-time care at home, and youngest daughter Rosie causing chaos with lots of toys taking up space. Stacey challenges them to sort their life out in just seven days by letting go of half their belongings, paving the way for a calmer, more functional space.
Every possession is boxed up and removed, revealing the true potential of their home. The Mann-Monro family’s life is laid out before them in a vast warehouse. Among the mountains of belongings are precious items belonging to Mary’s late husband – things she packed away years ago but has never fully confronted. Teenagers Milly and Henry look through their dad’s old gadgets and keepsakes, and learn more about him through the emotional but rewarding process.
For Mary, sorting through possessions she kept from the period when Gregor became disabled, following an illness, is particularly tough. She reflects on how, as a mum of four, she tried to stay strong for all the children and has had to bottle her emotions in order to keep moving forward. Revisiting those memories, with Stacey gently supporting her, helps Mary finally process what her family went through and appreciate how far they have come.
Meanwhile, back at the house, carpenter Rob takes on two ambitious builds: an amazing new music room and a teenage den that becomes a gentle reminder of their late dad. Rob incorporates the old projector and speakers he once owned, giving the children a comforting, modernised space where his presence is felt without overwhelming the room.
With the deadline looming, Dilly works her organisational magic, while Iwan delivers a top-to-bottom clean. Finally, the team bring the carefully streamlined belongings back into the home, transforming chaos into calm and creating a space that truly works for all six members of the family.
Will this makeover help the Mann-Monros move forward together and create the blended home they’ve always dreamed of?
