Summer may yet be some way off, but musically at least there is warmth in the air with uillean piper, Tom Delaney kicking off this week’s music with a track from his album, A Lark’s Call. The animal kingdom gets another look in with Colin MacLellan’s interpretation of the pibroch, the Red Speckled Bull, while his fellow Edinburgher, Iain Speirs, treats us to a double helping of marches, strathspeys and reels recorded at the Northern Meeting in 2000. Fort William native Annie Grace gives us a driving set of jigs, while there’s plenty to keep fans of the pipe band format happy with sets from the Glasgow Police, Boghall and Bathgate and National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland. And if poetry is your thing, there’s a rare treat from Nobel Laureate Seumas Heaney, accompanied by uillean pipe legend Liam O’Flynn.
