Terms and Conditions Radio Cymru 2 Missing Word Competition 2026

The promoter of the competition is the BBC. Please listen carefully for specific details of your local radio station competition as this may broadcast as a simulcast across multiple stations.

Eligibility

1. The competition is open to all residents of the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man aged 18 or over, except BBC or BBC Group employees, their close relatives or anyone connected with the competition, or the particular prize being offered. Proof of age, identity and eligibility may be required. The BBC reserves the right to disqualify any entrant or winner who breaches these rules.

How to enter

2. The competition will run as announced on-air between May and July 2026 and each competition will open at 07:30am and close at 12:30pm on the same day (except when editorial requirements lead to a change in schedule or a change in programme content. Further dates may be added in due course.

3. The competition(s) will be promoted across programming on BBC Radio Cymru 2 and BBC Radio Cymru throughout the duration of the competition entry window.

4. Entry is via an online webform which can be found at bbc.co.uk/gaircoll. Entries by any other method will not be accepted.

5. Entrants must include the missing word from that week’s clip as played out on-air. Please double-check the spelling of your entry before submitting it. However, if the BBC reasonably believes that you intended to enter the correct word, the BBC will still accept the entry even if it contains a spelling error.

6. You may only enter once, any additional entries will not be counted and only the answer given in your first entry will be accepted.

7. Once the competition has closed, the winner will be chosen at random from all eligible entries and notified at around 13:30pm on the day the competition closes. The winners first name and location will be announces on-air and they may be invited to appear on a Radio Cymru 2 show at around 13:30pm.

The Prize

8. There are separate prizes on offer for each week the competition will run. There will be one winner for each week. The prize will be as described on-air.

9. The winner acknowledges that the prize may have additional Terms and Conditions. The winner agrees to abide by the Terms and Conditions connected to the prize. The BBC is not responsible for third-party terms or third-party websites related to the prize(s).

10. For the avoidance of doubt, the BBC shall not be responsible for any other fee, expense or cost. There is no cash alternative, and the prize cannot be sold or transferred in any circumstances. It is the responsibility of prize winners to make their own way to the event listed at their own cost.

11. The prizes are as described. The BBC is not responsible for winners failing to follow instructions.

12. The prizes are non-exchangeable, non-transferable, and are not redeemable for cash or other prizes.

13. The winner cannot copy or distribute the prize or copies of it. Any programme names, branding or logos on or associated with the prize cannot be used or reproduced by the winner in any way. The winner shall not do anything with the prize that might bring the BBC in to disrepute.

14. If the prize includes tickets or entry to an event, the BBC will not be responsible for any failure by the winner and guests (if applicable) to gain entry or re-entry to the event due to their behaviour or their failure to meet the admission requirements of the event, including, but not limited to, minimum age. Winners are responsible for checking admission requirements to the venue.

15. The BBC will not be responsible for the suspension or cancellation of the prize event.

16. Where necessary for the purpose of prize fulfilment, the BBC may share the winner’s details with the designated prize provider.

General

17. The name and approximate location of the winner will be made public.

18. The BBC's decision as to entrants and winners is final. No correspondence relating to the competition will be entered into.

19. Entrants agree to take part in any reasonable post-competition publicity, if required.

20. This competition is conducted in line with the BBC's code of conduct for competitions, which can be found on https://www.bbc.com/editorialguidelines/guidance/code-of-conduct. The BBC Terms of Use apply to this Competition.

21. The BBC, their sub-contractors, subsidiaries and/or agencies cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction, nor for any other problem with any server, network, system or otherwise which may result in any registration not being properly logged or not recorded.

22. To the extent permitted by law, the BBC will not be liable for any loss or damage (whether such damage or losses were foreseen, foreseeable, known or otherwise) including financial, reputational loss or disappointment.

23. Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and to agree to be bound by them when entering this competition.

24. The BBC reserves the right to:
(i) amend these terms and conditions including, but not limited to, the competition opening and closing times;
(ii) disqualify any entrant who breaches the rules, has acted fraudulently in any way or has brought the BBC into disrepute;
(iii) where applicable, disqualify an entrant or winner, withdraw or substitute any prize, should any entrant, winner or their guest at any stage exhibit inappropriate or dangerous behaviour (including, but not limited to being under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs or chemical substances or causing a nuisance) before or whilst on-air, attending BBC premises or where the prize includes attendance to an event, exclusion from that event;
(iv) impose any additional entry restrictions or requirements should the prize being offered require such restrictions or requirements (including but not limited to tickets for events with an age minimum or other entry requirements), and
(v) cancel or vary the competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, or if circumstances arise beyond its control.

25. This competition accords with the BBC's Code of Conduct for Competitions and Voting.

26. The competition is run by the BBC. The applicable law is that of England and Wales.
