Distinguished pianist Paul Lewis plays two Beethoven piano concertos
Distinguished pianist Paul Lewis plays two Beethoven piano concertos

Charles Hazlewood introduces a Beethoven night at the BBC Proms.

Distinguished pianist Paul Lewis launches his complete cycle of piano concertos with the exuberant First and the more introspective but still tensely dramatic Fourth. He is partnered by Jiří Bělohlávek and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, with whom he recently recorded all five concertos.

There's more characteristic Beethovenian drama with two heroic overtures – one battling against oppression in the Egmont Overture; and the other recounting the legend of the Creatures of Prometheus, who were created with fire from the gods.

This BBC Prom is simulcast on the BBC HD channel – the BBC's High Definition channel, available through Freesat 108, Freeview 50, Sky 143 and Virgin 108.

Dastardly Dr Muhahahaha (Colin McFarlane) attempts to steal the internet
Dastardly Dr Muhahahaha (Colin McFarlane) attempts to steal the internet

Funlab presenter Rufus Hound faces his evil nemesis Dr Muhahahaha in cyberspace this week, as he tries to save the world from Dr Mu's latest dastardly scheme for world domination.

Dr Mu is stealing the internet, with IT systems going into meltdown all over the world. Rufus is transported into the icy wilderness of a social networking site called Puffin Portal, where he teams up with two fluffy puffin avatars, Buck and Gelina. But when his new pals are deleted by Dr Mu, Rufus finds himself trapped inside the internet.

Luckily, back on the Funlab set, Rufus's co-presenter Barry is online and spots him on the Puffin Portal site. Barry emails Rufus as an attachment to the doctor's evil HQ, Mu Force One, where Rufus learns that Dr Mu is sucking the internet's vast data stream straight into a giant storage tank. He also learns that the internet could potentially be restored via its backup server, hidden in a secret location called The Cache.

Rufus escapes from Mu Force One and sets off to find The Cache, save the internet and restore his puffin pals to their website.

Rufus is played by Rufus Hound, Doctor Muhahahaha by Colin McFarlane, Gelina by Eva Alexander and Barry/Buck by Colin Ryan.

Hounded is simulcast on the BBC HD channel – the BBC's High Definition channel, available through Freesat 108, Freeview 50, Sky 143 and Virgin 108.
