What are local elections?

In Scotland, voters will be choosing who represents their area in the Scottish Parliament.

Meanwhile in Wales, voters are taking part in elections for the national parliament - which is called the Senedd.

The final set of votes happening on Thursday are in England, where local and mayoral elections are taking place.

This time around there aren't any elections in Northern Ireland - they are due in May 2027.
