Vaibhav Suryavanshi and other young sportspeople you should know about

15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been impressing lots of cricketers with his performance in the Indian Premier League recently.

During the tournament, he's taken on one of the world's best bowlers, playing "fearlessly" against Jasprit Bumrah according to Mumbai captain and India all-rounder Hardik Pandya.

In total, Suryavanshi faced five balls from Bumrah and scored 13 runs.

Padya added it's "amazing to see the way he bats and shots he has. I wish him luck for the future."

Max Dowman

Arsenal's Max Dowman became the youngest scorer in Premier League history during a game against Everton.

He started this season aged 15, the second-youngest player to appear in the competition.

The previous record was achieved over 20 years ago by James Vaughan, who scored for Everton aged 16 years and 270 days in April 2005.

Max beat the record by 197 days, scoring his goal aged 16 years and 73 days.

He'll take his GCSEs in the summer!

Iona Winnifrith

Iona Winnifrith became a Paralympic silver medallist in 2024 and was the youngest member of Team GB at the Paris Olympics.

At 13-years and 148 days old she won the silver medal in the 100m breastroke SB7 with a personal best time of 1:30.61.

Before the games in Paris, she became a double Para Swimming European Champion.

These wins also earned her a European record in the SM7 200m Individual Medley and a British record in the SB7 100m Breastroke.

Divine Iheme

Great Britain's Divine Iheme is speedily becoming one to watch in the world of athletics.

The 16-year-old sprinter broke the European record for the fastest 60m race for under 18s which hasn't been broken since 1999.

He ran it in 6.68s at the England Athletics Indoor Championships.

He'd previously set the world record for the fastest 100m for a 14-year-old, running it in 10.3 seconds.

That's around one second faster than the current Olympic champion, Noah Lyles' personal best when he was the same age.

Arisa Trew is Australia's youngest ever Olympic champion.

She won the gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics for the women's park skateboarding at 14 years old.

Not only that, but she is also the first ever woman to claim a skateboarding medal for Australia too.

The year before the Olympics, she made history becoming the first ever woman to successfully execute and land a 720 trick - that involves two full rotations in the air!
