Halloween is almost here, which can only mean one thing - trick or treating in scary costumes!

Dressing up in spooky costumes is a tradition that goes back thousands of years.

People would wear masks and other things to disguise themselves to hide from evil spirits, in the hope they wouldn't be recognised.

And it's combined with a few other ancient traditions to become how we celebrate the Halloween we all know and love today.

It's also pretty fun looking scary and trying to make people jump when you are trick or treating!
