Last December, Zac and his mum, Nicola, were travelling from their home in Wales to a Christmas market when she suddenly became unwell.
During the incident, Zac reached across, took hold of the car's steering wheel and guided it into the central barrier to bring it to a stop.
He then switched off the engine, called 999 and used the car's satnav to help the emergency services find them.
Nicola woke up several minutes later and help soon arrived. She says Zac's quick thinking saved both of their lives.

Zac was surprised by England star Jude Bellingham who revealed he'd won a Pride of Britain award
The Pride of Britain Awards celebrate ordinary people who have done extraordinary things. Zac was nominated by people who had read or heard about his story, including some who had seen him on Newsround.
But Zac had no idea he had won until during a visit to Wembley Stadium, England footballer Jude Bellingham surprised him with the news.
Speaking to Newsround, Zac described Jude as "amazing" and "one of the nicest people ever". He also asked the football star what aftershave he was wearing because he smelled so good!
Jude later sent Zac two limited edition aftershave and body wash gift sets, with only 10 of them made in the world.

Things became even more exciting at the awards ceremony in London, where Jack Grealish presented Zac with his prize.
Jack invited Zac and some of his friends to watch an Everton football match from a special box. There is just one small problem: Zac supports Manchester United!
The event was packed with famous faces, including the prime minister, and Zac's mum says celebrities even began asking him for photographs, including some of the stars of Gladiators.
"You were the celebrity that night," she told him.

Looking back at what was a scary experience and everything that has happened since, Zac says he feels "very lucky".
His mum added that it's brought "memories to last a lifetime." Having met some of the biggest stars in the world, first with Newsround and now the Pride of Britain.
As for what's next, Zac has a special football match to choose from and a very important question to answer: which friends will get to go with him?
