Bumpy the rescued baby hippo has a new best friend

If you're a fan of Newsround, you might remember us bringing you the story of Bumpy the baby hippo earlier this year.

Bumpy is a hippo calf that was rescued in Kenya in East Africa, before being looked after by the charity Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

They are experts in looking after animals like hippos, rhinos and elephants.

The team have been caring for him until he's strong enough to be released back into the wild.

The charity has been posting updates about Bumpy and it turns out he's got a new bestie - Wangalla the elephant!

Bumpy was rescued by Kenya Wildlife Service in the town of Naivasha in the African country.

They then gave him to Sheldrick Wildlife Trust who have been taking care of him at their Kaluku sanctuary near Tsavo East National Park in Southern Kenya.

Like Bumpy, Wangalla was also rescued.

She was just one week old when she was taken in after being found in Tsavo East National Park in south-eastern Kenya.

Sheldrick Wildlife Trust named Wangalla after the plains were she was found.

The charity say that she is growing stronger every day.

Experts at the charity say that the animals don't generally have much in common.

But they say, "no one's told Bumpy and Wangalla" and they have "fallen trunk over tail for each other".
