Eastgate Shopping Centre in Inverness could be sold

The biggest shopping centre in the Highlands could be sold to new owners.

F&C Reit, which bought the Eastgate Shopping Centre in Inverness in 2013, said it has been approached by a number of potential buyers.

In a statement, the company added that it remained committed to plans to improve the centre.

Plans to add an eight-screen cinema and restaurants to the Eastgate were approved by Highland councillors in June last year.

In the statement, F&C Reit said: "We have been approached by a number of buyers and are currently exploring options.

"We remain committed to plans to improve the centre and maximising the visitor experience here."

The mall already covers a 320,000sq ft (29,750 sq m) area in the city centre.

The extension approved last year could add 120 new jobs to the 800 people already employed there.

The plans were given the go-ahead by Highland Council's south planning applications committee.
