
The new development should be completed by December 2012
Redcar is to get a new £31m leisure facility which will create 260 jobs in the town.
The development will be built on the site of the old Redcar Library between Kirkleatham Street and Coatham Road.
It will include a swimming pool and dance hall, and facilities for the community and local businesses.
Councillor Mark Hannon said: "This is a really exciting time for Redcar with over £75 million of investment in the town over the next 3 years. "
The new facility, which should be completed by December 2012, will include a swimming pool and leisure pool, dance hall and performance space, fitness suite and sports hall.
There will also be car parking and landscaped public spaces.
