FMQs: The headlinespublished at 13:24 BST
That brings to a close our live coverage of the first FMQs since the election in what has been an extraordinary week in Scottish politics. Here are the key lines that emerged this lunchtime:
- It came as no surprise that Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar raised the conviction of former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell for embezzlement calling on the Swinney to apologise for the culture of his party
- John Swinney reiterated that he was "appalled at the conduct of Peter Murrell"
- The Scottish Labour leader called for a parliamentary inquiry into the culture of the leadership of the SNP, but the first minister insisted the five-year police investigation of Murrell meant an inquiry would add nothing
- Malcolm Offord, leader of Reform UK Scotland, told the chamber it was "daft" to import Norwegian North Sea gas and called for the licensing of Scotland's own gas extraction
- The FM insisted the extraction must be "compatible with our journey to net zero"
- Offord went on to ask what Swinney's cunning plan was for indyref2 and the first minister replied "this parliament has an independence majority"
- The Scottish Greens co-leader Gillian Mackay called for more taxation of the super-rich and for a four-day week for public services
- Swinney stressed the need to be open to new ways of delivering public services
- Scottish Tory leader Russell Findlay returned to the only story in town this week and said people wanted to know why Nicola Sturgeon was not in the dock alongside her husband Peter Murrell. To that end he called on the Lord Advocate to publish all information relating to the case
- The first minister hit back, arguing that the Crown does not disclose the rationale for its decisions
- Finally, Scottish Lib Dem leader Alex Cole-Hamilton asked: "Is Scotland's ferry fleet ready for summer?"
- Swinney confirmed a fund for those impacted by ferry chaos and added that he hoped the ferry fleet was ready for summer as he was taking his holidays on the islands
