A registered sex offender, who had already been imprisoned for multiple sexual assaults, has been given a whole life order for the murders of two women and the violent rape of a third.
Simon Levy was found guilty last week of murdering Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo and Sheryl Wilkins in 2025, as well as the violent rape of a third woman.
He spoke only to confirm his name at the start of the sentencing hearing at the Old Bailey this morning, otherwise sitting quietly in the dock as the judge detailed the horrific nature of his crimes.
Called a "monster" by his surviving victim and told to "rot in prison" by victim Sheryl Wilkins' sister Lindsey Hicks, Levy sat through emotional statements about the impact his crimes have had - but himself showed no visible reaction.
Families members of the murder victims described being "completely broken" and spoke of the emptiness left behind after their loved ones' deaths.
They sat together near the entrance to the courtroom and could be seen at points comforting one another, holding hands and passing tissues.
Following his convictions on Friday, restrictions on reporting Levy's previous crimes were lifted - and the full extent of his previous offending became clear.
As my colleague Daniel De Simone writes, there was a series of disastrous decisions by authorities that left him free to roam the streets.
Today, Judge Mark Lucraft KC described Levy as "someone who ruthlessly exploits others for your own personal satisfaction".
The judge told him: "You will be in prison for life and there will be a whole life order".
