Harry and Meghan remain polarising figures - views are really entrenched.

The crowds they're facing in Nottingham seem positive and friendly.

Everything today is a reminder that, love them or loathe them, the interest in what they say and do is high.

    Crowd

By the time Harry and Meghan left the last venue in their visit, a crowd of at least 200 people had gathered outside.

It was the largest crowd of the day and there were a few people who had followed the pair to each venue throughout the day, hoping to catch a glimpse or say hello.

There was a notable police presence at the last venue, with an unmarked car blocking access to Edale Road and a number of police vehicles parked in surrounding streets.

Police officers were asking members of the public to step back before the couple left.

The Himmah Hub also saw an emotional reunion with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's Grenfell "ladies", who featured in a community cookbook championed by Meghan.

Meghan and Harry kissed, hugged and held hands with the four women invited to join the couple when they visited a Nottingham-based food poverty action group.

The women - who cooked for the Grenfell families in the wake of the fatal tower block fire - received regular private visits from the Duchess, who later told the BBC that catching up with the community cooks was "really, really meaningful".

In the organisation’s basement, the Grenfell chefs were helping to prepare a lunch of chicken tagine and other dishes alongside the charity's cooks in the kitchen.

Staff from the charity had set up demonstration cooking areas outside the kitchen and Meghan told them: "I want to meet all of you, it smells amazing, but I have to go see my ladies first."

She went into the kitchen and individually hugged Dayo Gilmour, Intlak Alsaiegh, Faiza Hayani Bellili and Leila Hedjem, and then there was a large group embrace.

As they greeted each other, one woman said "it's been too long", and Meghan replied "at least five years". A few minutes later, Harry went into the kitchen and was embraced by the women, as one said "we've missed you so much".

We had a fan originally from Finland earlier, but from even further afield is 20-year-old Rafi Rashad, from Jakarta in Indonesia, and his toy flamingo Pinku.

Rafi, who is studying in the UK, said: "My parents talk about them a lot and friends too, so when I heard they were coming I had to take the opportunity.

"I saw them holding hands with each other which was very nice, very cute.

"It's nice they're here, I think it's very nice and lovely."

Outside Epic Partners, Dean Mackenzie said this is a "once-of-a-lifetime opportunity".

The 37-year-old said: "I have so much love and adoration for Meg and Harry. I've always wanted to meet them.

"I met King Charles many years ago when he came to Shetland where my parents live.

"I was very excited. My mother said I must go. I would love to give Meghan these flowers and get a photo, that would make my day."

    Arrival

Harry and Meghan's visit to Nottingham has reached its third and final destination - back in the Sneinton area.

Crowds had gathered ahead of the couple's arrival at Epic Partners in Edale Road, which has worked with Harry since his visit to Nottingham in 2013.

The Full Effect partnership followed between Epic and the Community Recording Studio (CRS), which Harry and Meghan visited earlier.

The partnership mixed community-based support with school interventions, including music and creative activities.

During their 2017 royal visit, Meghan met young people supported by Full Effect and spent time with Epic's girls' nurture group.

Harry's support continued through a large donation to BBC Children in Need, while last year he donated a further £50,000 to Epic-supported apprenticeships organisation Coach Core.

Maddie Ward, 21, and Manisha Labana, 20, are friends and housemates.

Maddie said: "We've come to see Harry and Meghan, who recently came back. Since they met and got married and started their married life here, I've been a fan.

"I can understand there's criticisms about them but I like them and the work they do.

"It's good they're doing positive things like being at this food bank. It's fine they're not working royals, but they can't just be ordinary members of the public.

"I'd like to be able to meet them, shake their hand."

Manisha added: "Meghan is a positive role model and empowering, especially for mixed women as well."

Among the disappointed people who missed out on meeting Harry and Meghan was Shaghofta Akhtar, 53, from Nottingham.

She said: "I'm a big supporter of Meghan - particularly her views on peace and women's rights - but disappointed that she didn't come out to greet people who had been waiting.

"I'm a little bit unhappy because I was waiting for her, but I'm sure they have their security reasons for it."
