Violent protests set us back, says man who intervened in knife attackpublished at 10:09 BST
Regarding the protests, Maitiu Mág Tighearnán says: "Everybody is entitled to the right of opinion and the right to protest.
"When it turns violent then you lose sight of the protest and what it actually stands for."
He says a local shop which has been there for 15-20 years has been attacked. He ads that they have grandchildren who were born in Northern Ireland.
"I think what's happened, amongst everything that's happening, someone has seen someone of colour and then it's led to that.
"We have people in our society who contribute towards our economy, who contribute towards our country so attacking those people makes no sense and then that is where that bad comes the protest because it loses sight of what that protest stands for.
"Burning a bus for example in Belfast that costs thousands, took years to actually build – it sets it back so many years."
