Are you harbouring dark secrets? If so, it’s time to purge your soul on a postcard down at Urbis. The venue is offering the city a chance to get a secret out of the closet and onto paper as part of their new exhibition, Secret City.
They’ve already received such revelations as "I always thought the Smiths were over-rated", "We have a family season ticket at United, but I'm secretly City", “At the traffic lights on Deansgate just before the Great Northern, it smells of vanilla and baking biscuits” and "I pretend to be a Manchester Trendy, but truthfully I'm a Cheshire Snob". Confessions Of A Mancunian will go on display at Secret City in The Social, the venue’s café bar, for the whole of September. The idea of it is to explore what makes a Mancunian and have a look into their thoughts, feelings, behaviours and observations. And it’s a rolling procedure, so if you go along and read something that rings true with you, you can still add your own secret after the whole thing starts. Go on, share your secrets in a fun way and no one will ever know it’s you! To share your secret, pop into The Social at Urbis, write it on a postcard and stick it in one of the boxes or make an admission online.last updated: 13/08/07 You are in: Manchester > Entertainment > Arts, Film and Culture > Arts and Literature > Go let it out |
