Young Kof, aka Kofi Owusu, is a new original talent entering onto the urban music scene. On the 15th July 1983, Young Kof was the eldest of two children to be born to his Liverpudlian mother and Ghanaian father.

It was at secondary school that his real passion for music making began, the influence of urban music and lifestyle shaping Young Kof's unique style. Kof regards his Liverpool family as some of his biggest fans. They provide lots of support and encouragement and occasionally a hot meal!

During his late teens, Kofi was part of a group called Urban Souls. Together Kofi and his female partner wrote many songs, however due to the lack of resources they were not able to pursue their dreams and record their songs.

Young Kof’s music has truth and honesty, which sets it apart from the rest. His vocal style is unique and he doesn’t try to have an American sound. He actually describes his sound as “real good music” as if it is a sub-genre of its own. Kof takes his musical inspiration not only from life, but also from artists he admires such as Jay-Z, Usher and Stevie Wonder.

Young Kof has performed across the nation, at such hotspots as Club Creation, Cargo, Carling Academy, Arena and so many more. He has shared the stage with stars like Roll Deep, Skinnyman and DJ Semtex. Kofi even had the opportunity to perform on the same line up as Ms Dynamite back when she was becoming a known on the urban music scene.

Kof regularly receives radio play from BBC Radio Merseyside and 1Xtra. At the same time, his music video for the song ‘Fresh’ was played on heavy rotation on digital television.
