One Minute Movies: Formats

This is important: decide your film format before you do anything else and check we can accept it.

Films on Disc: If you plan to send us your film on a CD-ROM or DVD, it must be uncompressed (60 seconds uncompressed audio and video is around 220Mb — if your film is between 1-20 Mbs, it's compressed and we will not be able to publish it) and on one of the following formats:

  • an uncompressed .avi file

  • an uncompressed .mov file
  • , or,
  • if it's a Flash movie, a .swf file no larger than 400k, with dimensions not exceeding 660 x 470. All Flash files must include a preloader.

  • Please do not compress your film in any way. This makes it impossible for us to encode them, and therefore we will not be able to publish them. If your editing software compresses your finished film try exporting it back to the tape in your camera and sending us that (see below).

Films on Tape: If you want to send your film on tape, it must be on one of the following:

  • VHS

  • Mini DV

  • DV Cam

  • DigiBeta
  • Now you know this, you can begin! Good luck!
