What is a guanaco?

Guanacos are large, elegant mammals that live in the rugged, mountainous landscape of South America. They are closely related to llamas and alpacas (part of the Camelid family) and usually live in herds. They are speedy and agile, with a powerful kick. They are a prime target prey for pumas, despite weighing three times as much as the big cat!
