Misty and cool here but the dawn chorus is in full effect. That might be a yellowhammer but then again it might be the central heating (definitely still on). Hope your weekend was a joy! Travelling around yesterday the roads here seemed full of 3 different travellers: Sunday pleasure seekers, mods on their scooters and the army on what I'll call 'big green vehicles'. They appeared to be invading Suffolk. Maybe I missed something in the news...
Well it's Book Club time and today's it's The Dry by debut author Jane Harper. It's a top notch crime novel set in the Australian outback and features a cop, Aaron Falk, returning to the small farming community where he grew up. An old friend appears to have cracked under the pressure of the unprecedented heat and taken the lives of his family and then himself. However...you'll not be surprised to learn it's not so simple as that. Reese Witherspoon has bought the screen rights so don't miss Jane taking 'The Dry' after 6. It's one of those books where the heat sears through every page and DRY oldies will work a treat don't you think? (rhetorical)
