For many Hindus the aim of life encompasses four aspects:
dharma - fulfilling moral duties and living life in accordance with right actions
artha - gaining wealth in an honest manner and using it wisely
kama - enjoying the pleasures and beauty of life
moksha - the ultimate goal involving ending rebirthThe belief that some part of a person (perhaps their energy) passes into a new life form after death. and being freed from the material and physical existence
There are also four different stages of life many Hindus recognise. These are referred to as ashramaLife stages described in scripture as 1 - student; 2 - householder and parent; 3 - retirement and grandparent; 4 - sannyasin: a life of complete renunciation (most Hindus don't get to, or attempt stage 4)..
