Plants, animals and other living things all play an important role in keeping our planet healthy. In this KS2 video from The Regenerators, Jack explores why biodiversity matters and explains how small actions can help protect habitats and support wildlife.

Let living things thrive!
Fatima, Daz, Kayla and Jack are calling… from the future! They want to thank today's children for acting responsibly and averting a climate crisis.
Here, Jack makes a video call whilst out with his Dad, enjoying the animals and plants around him. He looks at the steps we can take to help living things out in the environment.
Jack: How's it going past people? Just headed to the beach, and if you guys hadn't stepped in, well who knows what i'll be heading to right now!
Because back in your day, animal homes and natural habitats were being torn down left right and centre. For wood, for homes, to make human food! So thanks for planting new forests with lots of different trees, and protecting wild areas. Because trees look way better when they're green!
Plus it was you guys that started using less harmful pesticides in farming along with viruses and habitat loss, they nearly wiped out all of our bees.
That is until you heroes came along and started planting wildflowers in your gardens and schools. Bees pollinate flowers right? And we need flowering plants for food, medicine, food, insects, trees, food, birds and food! Not only that, it was you guys that really started to slow down Climate Change.
Climate Change was making the world's weather more extreme. When it was hot, it was hotter and when it was wet, it was wetter! But you changed that back. Making the planet safe for all living things.
And it was you guys that started fishing smart. Your nets used to catch this, that and everything! Fishing in a more sustainable way meant that you only caught what you needed to catch and didn't damage the environment. And the fish didn't get fished into extinction.
And we totally need animals and plants because they're basically running the world! Small critters fertilise soil, which we then grow food with. Squirrels plant trees when they bury nuts, and then they forget where they are! Plus you know without animals we couldn't have cute kitten videos.

Jack: Ah no dad, it's just CutieCat42's latest one! Anyway, see you guys. And thanks for looking out for the plants and animals, they make the world an awesome place to live!
