| Monday, 18 February, 2002, 11:17 GMT Quayside road plans unveiled The site at Deganwy could create up to 200 jobs The developers of a 45m Deganwy Quay leisure and homes project are due to unveil proposals on Monday for road access to the luxury complex. Lifetime Projects Ltd announced the launch of the scheme last August, amid a row over building work on the beach. But the company has forged ahead and is confident it will create more than 200 jobs at the waterfront complex opposite Conwy Marina. There are plans for 71 homes, costing from almost 150,000 to 500,000 and Lifetime Projects claimed last year that more than half of the properties had already been reserved. Managers hope that by next year, the development near Llandudno Junction will become a full-time holiday resort. Derelict site The firm said half of those had been bought by local people and a five-star hotel will grace the complex. Some of the new jobs will be temporary construction posts for workers to build the complex. The site is currently derelict land opposite Conwy marina. Ground work began last summer on creating a 226-berth marina by the end of this year's sailing season. Deganwy beach has previously failed to comply with EU minimum water quality thresholds, according to a report last year by the Marine Conservation Society. Nearby Penrhyn Bay also missed out on the standard. | See also: 24 Aug 01 | Wales 03 May 01 | UK 05 Jun 01 | Wales 15 Jun 01 | Wales 21 Feb 01 | UK Top Wales stories now: Links to more Wales stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
