Motorway loo honoured with award
Staff at a service station in Sussex are flushed with pride after their customer toilets won a top award in the Loo of the Year competition.

Moto services on the M23 at Pease Pottage was given the four-star honour following a secret visit by judges.

A spokesman for the company said on average 3,000 people visited the site every day which made keeping the toilets clean a "mammoth task".

Judges visited more than 1,000 public toilets across Britain for the awards.

Fixtures and fittings

The Loo of the Year Awards, run by the British Toilet Association, have been identifying the best in the UK since 1987.

It was created to encourage the highest possible standards in all types of public toilets.

Areas which are scrutinised for the awards include cleanliness, management, accessibility and the standard of fixtures and fittings.
