New Writing North | Channel 4 Writing for Television Awards 2026
Submissions open between Friday 15th May to Friday 26th June 2026

Do you want to write for TV and work with a production company?
From Friday 15th May, New Writing North will have an opportunity for aspiring TV writers based in the North of England to submit to the Channel 4 Writing for Television Awards
There will be four winners selected in each category who will each a receive a cash bursary, mentoring with an industry professional and the opportunity get work with a top independent production company.
The production companies to apply to are:
Warp Films (Adolescence)
Rope Ladder Fiction (Waterloo Road)
FilmNation TV UK (Small Town, Big Story)
Bonafide Films (Mood and The Last Post)
To apply for these awards you should be:
- Living in the North of England at the time of entering and planning to remain here for at least another 12 months.
- Over the age of 18.
This is a non-BBC scheme
