Thousands attended the historic ceremony in Uhuru Park, Nairobi
President Mwai Kibaki is to sign Kenya's new constitution into law today.
It is seen by some as a rebirth of the nation.
A bitter and sometimes violent struggle brought them to this point, but Kenyans hope today will mark the turning of a new page in their history.
A number of African heads of state are witnessing the ceremony at Uhuru Park in Nairobi.
BBC Network Africa's Noel Mwakugu was there too.
