August brings the tradition of yam festivals to a host of communities along coastal west Africa.

As these colourful traditional festivals take place, experts in agriculture are warning that several varieties of the yam are under threat.

Our correspondent in Ghana, David Amanor, has been to one of Ghana's largest yam markets to find out more.
