Occupants and neighbours of a home for the elderly near Johannesburg are still coming to terms with the devastation and loss of life after fire swept through the building.

The blaze started late last night and swept through the Pieter Wessels home for the elderly, killing 18 residents.

Eighty-four people were saved from the flames, meanwhile investigators are trying to establish what caused the fire.

The BBC's Nomsa Maseko has been to see what remains of the home.
