Today south Sudan will commemorate their late leader Dr John Garang and the estimated two million people who died during the civil war.

With less than six months to go before southerners are given the chance to choose full independence from the north, this year's Martyrs Day takes on a special significance.

BBC Network Africa's Peter Martell has been finding out what the day means to people in South Sudan.
