Four foreigners have been attacked in a township in northern Johannesburg, increasing concerns of a wave of xenophobia after the football World Cup.

The four, who live in Kya Sands, are reported to be from Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

Tensions between South Africans and the millions of migrants who live in the country have been growing, but violent animosity was seemingly put on hold during the World Cup.

Two years ago, a spate of xenophobic attacks killed at least 62 people.

South African police spokesman, Brigadier Govindsamy Mariemuthoo spoke to BBC Focus on Africa's Sophie Ikenye.
