An autopsy report handed to the family of rights activist Floribert Chebeya says he died of a heart attack, but was less conclusive about whether he'd been abused.
The autopsy carried out by doctors on June 11 however noted superficial cuts and some bleeding around the wrists, forearms and the legs caused by an external source.
Mr Chebeya and his driver disappeared as they travelled to the police headquarters, where he'd been called to a meeting with the police chief, John Numbi.
Floribert Chebeya's body was found gagged and bound in the back seat of his car a month ago on a road on the outskirts of Kinshasa.
The driver has not been found yet.
For more on the report BBC Network Africa's Kassim Kayira spoke to Pim Volkers, the director of Verilabs, the company that carried out the autopsy in the Netherlands.
