Sierra Leone has lifted its ban on exports of raw timber.

The ban was put in place in January to crack down on illegal logging.

President Ernest Koroma said then that illegal logging to supply timber for furniture and household goods in the Middle East and Asia was degrading Sierra Leone's environment and depleting the ozone layer.

BBC Network Africa's Akwasi Sarpong asked our reporter Lansana Fofana why the government has now lifted the ban.
