DJ Azhul and the band he often plays with, Brasse Vannie Kaap, come from Cape Town's coloured community.

South Africans of mixed race ancestry were classified as "coloured" under the country's Apartheid regime.

There are around four million coloured people in South Africa, just under 10% of the population, and are the majority in many parts of the Western Cape province.

The BBC's Peter Ndoro met DJ Azhul in central Cape Town to find out more about how his identity influences his music.
