President Goodluck Jonathan has decided to reverse a controversial ban on the Nigerian football team taking part in international competition.
President Goodluck had imposed the sanction after the early exit of the Super Eagles from the World Cup.
It appears the president changed his mind shortly before a deadline set by FIFA, football's world governing body, to reverse the ban.
FIFA has strict rules against political interference in sport and had threatened to suspend Nigeria from all international tournaments.
BBC Focus on Africa's Sophie Ikenye spoke to Oluwashina Okeliji, the BBC's sports reporter in Lagos.
