Omar al-Bashir will be sworn in as president of Sudan today.
He has been in power since taking over in a coup in 1989, but last month he won a multiparty election.
The polls were dismissed by the opposition and human rights groups as rigged, but the results have been recognised internationally.
President Bashir is a controversial figure; he is the only sitting head of state to be wanted by the International Criminal Court for alleged war crimes.
