A top official in Zambia's governing Movement for Multiparty Democracy has been jailed for corruption.

A court convicted Dr Katele Kalumba together with six others, some of whom were key Ministry of Finance officials during the rule of the second president of Zambia, Frederick Chiluba.

The former president also faced corruption charges of which he was acquitted last year.

The BBC's Mutuna Chanda reports from Lusaka.
