Guinea's Supreme Court has whittled down the number of presidential aspirants from 42 to 24.

On the approved list are all the candidates for the bigger political parties, but only one woman made it to the final round.

Some of the potential candidates had their 400 million Guinea Francs or US$60,000 deposits returned to them simply because they could not meet the selection criteria.

Network Africa's Alhassan Sillah reports from Conakry.
