The president-elect of South Sudan will be sworn into office today.
Salva Kiir Mayardit is the chairman of the former Southern rebels the SPLM.
He won 93% of the votes in last month's southern presidential election, and so holds on to his post.
Once his inauguration takes place attention will turn fully to next January's referendum, in which southerners will vote on possible independence.
The SPLM already controls the South, following a 2005 peace deal.
